$80 Million Construction Work
In a recent address to the Bahamian Contractors' Association's quarterly luncheon meeting Rick Bodge, Vice President of Kerzner Development International Ltd. said $80 million worth of work has been put out to tender for Atlantis' Phase III in addition to a previous $35 million.
Bodge said packages have been structured to help support Bahamian contractors and ensure that smaller contractors will be able to bid and get work. While he expects that the work will be substantially completed by Bahamian contractors he stated that some expatriates would be involved in bigger packages because of the magnitude and intricacy of the work required.

Bodge said he is seeking more qualified Bahamian contractors and tradesmen and hopes that anyone who is interested in working on any of Kerzner's projects will respond to the advertisements. "We have an open door policy and you can call me or Ian Stewart" (of PCL Constructors) Bodge said. Mr. Stewart said Kerzner is making every effort to be as accessible as possible to the entire Bahamian community.

He said the tender packages might be intimidating because of their size but said any contractors with questions could call Kerzner Development's offices and project managers will happily clarify any details. Also at the luncheon meeting German Developer Uwe Kutz announced that construction will soon begin on the $126 million dollar Ocean Club Residences and Marina on nine acres next to the Ocean Club. This project is a 50/50 partnership between Kerzner and Uwe.
